Music: Reniss - Michael Jackson Ft. Jovi (Prod. By LeMonstre)

The New Bell Music's first lady is back again with a "Popped" up Makossa track. With the professionalism of Jovi (Le Monstre), her single Michael Jackson, is a blend of makossa and a hint of pop of the 80s. Starting the song with a sample from the Ivorian group R.A.S. "Agnagnan"(1989), she goes all Michael Jackson "YEEEHEEE" on the pre-chorus. and Jovi's effortless flow on the verse gives the song a retro yet a nowadays hip hop feel. Reniss is working on her second project (After Afrikan Luv) which should be released some time this year. In fact me'a no over talk.

DISCOVERY- Ruphina's House

One thing we all want to see hear and touch is something new. Well, Ruphina's House, an organisation that aims at promoting the arts ( Movies, Music and Theater), seems to do just that. KamerRocks was with Darnoc Ist, the Director of Ruphina's House, and here's what he had to say.

  •  KamerRocks: First off, why the name Ruphina’s House
Darnoc Ist: Four Years ago (June 2010), a great lady passed unto Glory. A woman who sacrificed all she had for her children, her family and her community through her selfless service as a nurse and a community counselor. Despite the moral and financial difficulties at the time, her undivided determination to make me a better person paved the way for what is now called “Ruphina’s House” A tribute to a wonderful woman called “Bih Ruphina Mula” inspired the legacy of (Ruphina’s House). Simply put, Ruphina is my Mother’s Name, the rest of the story should be obvious…R.I.P Mummy Ruphina.

  • KamerRocks: Why wait up to a year to officially launch Ruphina’s House, given the amount of work that has been going on.
Darnoc Ist: More precisely a year and six months. We prioritize training and professionalism in all arts and so it was but natural for Ruphina’s House to be sure its objectives are well established in the minds of its members (Ruphinated) and those who were confused as to its real status (Most people thought we were just another new movie production house). This explains why we a six months of work and profiling had to pass by before launching the house.

  • KamerRocks: You have been to Douala and other parts of the country – why decide to launch and set up shop in Bamenda?
Darnoc Ist: Douala, Buea, Limbe, Yaounde, Kumba etc Cool! Don’t you think? These cities have a strong entertainment history but I think Bamenda has a stronger history with the various arts Ruphina’s house promotes. Concretely, Bamenda has great potentials and has been growing in leaps and bounds within the past Five years in all aspects especially Showbiz. Better still Bamenda and the northwest Region as a whole can be liken to “Cameroon’s talent power house” and evidently is not as saturated as other entertainment cities in Cameroon. If you ask me, Bamenda is the future of Cameroonian entertainment. I thank God for directing my choice to Bamenda because for Twenty months, Ruphina’s House has been and is still been endowed with enormous talents from actors/actresses to musicians and brilliant models.

  • KamerRocks: What’s been accomplished so far especially before the launching?
Darnoc Ist: Far from fulfillment yet so close to satisfaction. Ruphina’s House has accomplished so much since its creation. First, Ruphina’s House stroke a deal with one of the best Studios in the country “Cejay Productions” just a few days into its inception. with Sixty five Ruphinated, Ten Cipher Episodes ready for release to the market, three “five hundred minutes Radio plays/drama” ready for release, 4 major theater performances on different platforms, a wide range of media recognition and as a consequence the most popular and solicited talent development organization in the region, Ruphina’s House can proudly say her goals/objectives are a step in the right direction. But the most outstanding accomplishment is the fact that we are succeeding in bringing together dreams.
Yes… Dreams! Dreams of Young talented Cameroonians who have for a long time been searching for a platform to express and develop the natural endowment (Talent) God bestowed upon them. Ruphina’s House cannot by pass the fact that everyday “Ruphinated” step out of their beds with the hope that their dreams have come true… That is the biggest accomplishment so far.

  • KamerRocks: What does it mean to be Ruphinated
Darnoc Ist: (Smiles) What does it mean to be Cameroonian? Ruphinated simply gives you an identity weighted by the values and principles upon which Ruphina’s House stands for. To be Ruphinated means to belong to the dream. “I am Ruphinated”- I am a permanent member of Ruphina’s House, that’s it.

  • KamerRocks: We have heard and seen some pictures (especially on facebook) about the Ruphina’s 5. Can you throw some light on about what it’s all about?
Darnoc Ist: Ruphina’s 5 is the Image of Ruphina’s House. It’s practically a brand created to foster and promote the house more intensely. With sixty Five Ruphinated and fifty temporal members, it’s but natural to have a face for the future, or better still faces that carry the image of the house to a wider audience. Showbiz is about recurrence and presence… “See more- like more”. With a hundred and fifteen faces, we are faced with the dilemma of creating stars while sticking to the house’s initial objectives of developing talents and so Ruphina’s 5 brings you closer to the house. Note that Ruphina’s 5 in no way insinuates a numerical limitation to five people, reason, right now Ruphina’s 5 is made up of Six young multi-talents (Juliet Lum, Eystein Jnr. Young, Philipserge Mcauley aka Campton Fly Baby, Melvin Melv, Syriette Che and Sylvia Keys)

  • KamerRocks: Let’s talk music. With artists like Belvia & Fly Baby (who are also actors), what should we expect from RH   with respect to music?
Darnoc Ist: Ruphina’s Records like any other music Label signed Fly baby and Belvia Ange because they are super talented artists in their own rights.  After Beliva’s audition in Cejay Studios “I clenched my fists and “hola’ed” Thank you Jesus!!! I had just heard the best voice ever from these parts and Ruphina’s House through Ruphina’s records will do no less than justice to setting a platform for the artist to bless the world with her angelic voice… Fly baby, in black and blue, is God’s own artists. He trilled me with his demo song “Small town” and straight away I knew Ruphina’s house got the next super star. Worthy of note is the fact that, the house has many other music artists who are extremely talented. Believe me, The future is bright.

  • KamerRocks: We’ve heard of “Cipher” the serial, with actors like Serge Mcauley, Juliet Lum & Eystein Jr. Young and even urself. Will it be the first of RH’s releases?
Darnoc Ist: “Cipher” is a melodramatic comedy serial, done by Ruphina’s House. It’s like a trade mark for the house. It’s a brilliant piece of art shot from a rather peculiarly creative point of view with wonderful cast. The audience should expect nothing less than intrigue and humor blend with Fun yet intellectually appealing for comedy done in Africa. To say it is going to be the first of Ruphina’s House releases is just fair, still Ruphina’s House has been up to other very challenging projects like “Samson” “Bihnwi” “Lovehate” which might just be in line to taking over the film market in the nearest future. What I guarantee the fans is whatever movie we release first shall remain in their hearts for a lifetime. “Prove of how hard we have been working”

  • KamerRocks: What are the major challenges you face as a director, and as RH as a whole?
Darnoc Ist: As director, I am the creative head, that’s huge. The responsibility of keeping the dream alive tears me apart stemming from regular three days a week rehearsal irrespective of ongoing projects or not. To be ruphinated means you must and should be present for rehearsals three times a week and when the house is on a project, extra rehearsal sessions are organized. My week is practically gone in such cases. That means it’s a full time job. As of now, I have no life outside Ruphina’s House. Also, it takes the heart of a man to believe in the Cameroonian entertainment industry as a whole because mediocrity is killing our industry. It is not strange to hear slangs from Cameroonians who have refused to give the industry a chance like “Wuna fit do which kind better film for Cameroon seff?” That is absolutely repulsive. So I have buried myself in work just to prove that Cameroonians have the full potentials to produce movies of  international standard and I am happy some other movie directors are doing same with movies like “Ninah’s Dowry” done in Cameroon, Bamenda and Ndop (right under our nostrils) picking up international awards amidst stiff competition from other industries worldwide.
As Ruphina’s House, the major challenge we are facing is Finance. We need resources to explode the world with talents from Cameroon. We are good, I bet you. But how can we expose these qualities without adequqte finances to realize projects. That is our challenge and has been for almost all film makers in Cameroon who benefit from very little support from fellow Cameroonians.

  •   KamerRocks: Despite these challenges, what else should we expect from RH as the year unfolds?
Darnoc Ist: Ruphina’s house has a large bundle for fans. We will be releasing Fifteen Cipher episodes, five short movies and two feature movies. We shall be releasing at least two music artists, radio plays and a good number of professional theater performances in and out of Cameroon. Fashion/modeling shows and hosting a good number of events with the celebrity hosting arm of the house.

  •      KamerRocks: If there’s one thing anyone should take from this interview, what would you want that to be?
Darnoc Ist: Ruphina’s House is here to complement other talent development organizations, film makers and modeling agencies… for a larger objective, together better the entertainment industry in Cameroon. We are open to talents and believe in those who believe in themselves and are as passionate as we are in their art. Thank you
I want to express my utmost gratitude to Kamer Rocks for granting me this interview. Kamer rocks is a great initiative and I applaud the team behind this wonderful work.

New Song - "RUN" By Zinnia

A soulful blend of Afro-jazz, highlife and Makossa, it takes just a talent like Zinnia's to come up with something like this.
Zinnia is back with her official single "RUN".
“Run is a fun upbeat Afro dance song but it also depicts the daily life of African men and women going through the obvious headaches of relationship problems, money problems, young girls making wrong choices… in all, how we all face life’s different challenges in our everyday so it’s also a serious song. For my non French speaking African fam – its pretty much saying RUN from all this trouble!”
Well, she's said it all.

Daphne's "Reflection - EP" Press Release

Press Release: Upon Reflection When Broken, You Find Love (Ndolo)

Charlotte, NC, Nov 10th 2014 - Stevens Music Entertainment announces the release of 3 new singles from Daphne.

Daphne was introduced over 3 months ago to the music world as “The Next Big Thing” out of Cameroon. Her first single “Rastafari” lived up to all expectations and is still in rotation on TV and Radio stations around the world.

Daphne has great potential, a lovely and mature voice…and definitely possesses the ability to explore various genres”. Paola Audrey, Media Personality.

Having established herself as an “uncompromising vocalist”, Daphne is back with three new songs off her forthcoming album. The songs show Daphne’s versatility as her vocals ride effortlessly on a Pop/Dancehall beat on “Reflection”, a soulful Afro-pop beat on “Broken” and a Makossa-Zouk infused beat on “Ndolo”.

“These tracks will no doubt establish Daphne as one of the best songwriters and vocalists out of Cameroon”. Fointama Besia, TV Personality.

“Reflection is about love redeemed…it’s about forgiveness and allowing love to come back to you,” said Daphne. The song tells the story of a lover who is around when things are good and goes away when “things dem bad…” But the best part of the song is when Daphne asks her runaway lover to “come right away, bring all your pain along let’s burn it down …”

The theme of love continues on “Broken”, a song about a girl who’s been hurt and left broken-hearted. “This song is a chapter in everyone’s love book,” says Daphne. “Especially for girls…(she laughs)…you want to love again but you are so scared…’cause you are broken”.

Her third single seems to be a solution for the first two. After being jilted on “Reflection” and left “Broken”, Daphne turns to the “food of the soul…the reason why we laugh, the reason why we cry, the reason why we smile, the reason why we live” – Ndolo (Love). She personifies love as God. “God is so beautiful, and will always be the pillar of my being,” says Daphne. “I turn to God for everything” she continues.

My message with the three songs is simple. “When you feel let down and broken into pieces, you need to reflect…reflection will lead you to the truth, will lead you to love…to God (Ndolo)”.
Daphne continues to work on her debut album to be released in 2015. These songs will continue to showcase her as a force to reckon with in the Cameroon and African music industry. The maestro AnyKindBeats produced all three songs with Shan and Oga doing additional production on “Ndolo”.

Daphne had made a great entrance…her voice is smooth, filled with fire and fierceness. Bref, J’adore”. Celine V Fotso, Media Personality.

The songs will be exclusively premiered on radio and iTunes on November 17th 2014, and later made available on the web as well as other digital outlets.

“I am looking forward to interacting with fans and getting their feedback on these songs. The songs were written with them in mind, so their feedback is important to me,” concludes Daphne.

New Video_ LEO NG in #TPT

"La rigolade est Boleh..." is how Leo NG starts his #TPT track. The Mad Men Records/AMusic artist released the video for Tuer Pour Tuer directed by Adah akenji  and the audio produced by PAP and Damn lately. His mastery of the flow in both English, French and pidgin is just amazing. That is how it starts "..maintenant c tuer pour tuer".

My Opinion

I'm happy Kamer's music is no longer segregated. I mean the musicians flow in both official languages now and u don't even have time to wonder if it's an Anglophone or Francophone. Leo NG is a perfect example of such an artists. Although we can't see much of his face in the video, the video is one of Adah Akenji's sickest. I just love the song especially the hook.
